Category: Association of Filipino Students

5The Association of Filipino Students (AFS) is a growing multi-cultural organization that promotes the culture of the Philippines among students, while having fun at the same time. Members come together for meetings, social activities, intramural sports, Filipino community events, and dance. They also organize themselves to address the issues and concerns that affect them both on and off campus. AFS exists to encourage academic achievement to promote social interaction and to raise cultural, political, and community awareness among its members and also to the outside community.

Among all the Asian organizations at USF, the Association of Filipino Students is by far the most involved. You can see us on the intramural fields, performing cultural and modern dances, volunteering, and participating in school-wide functions.

Dance is one of AFS’s big pillars. In the past year, AFS has placed FIRST in Revolutions, the dance competition during PhilFest (one of the largest Filipino gatherings in the state of Florida) two years in row!! AFS has also placed THIRD in UF’S Ded Talent Jam competition.

AFS is not only considered an organization, but a FAMILY. Alumni can attest that they have made long lasting friendship through AFS.  Let it be known that ANYONE can be a part of AFS, as long as you are willing to make new friends and have a GREAT time.

MEET NEW FRIENDS, EXPERIENCE THE CULTURE OF THE PHILIPPINES.
PARTY WITH THE BEST! don’t miss out…
