PhilFest 2012 on March 30-April 1, the much-awaited three-day signature festival put on by the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc., is its premier fund-raising event to raise funds for the maintenance and upkeep of the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex. On this 17th PhilFest the PhilFest committee with Roger Caculitan as chairman and Lucy Bautista, Ross Balderama and Roy Covarrubias as his vice-chairmen, and twenty-three other committees have been busy with their preparations. In the coming weeks they will transform the Philippine Village into a typical Filipino fiesta where Filipinos can mingle with others from the motherland and exchange news and pleasantries.

The following are the participating organizations at PhilFest 2012. Make sure to visit their booths at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex, buy some of their food and merchandise and inquire about membership and participation in their events! These booths will be open from Friday to Sunday:

Don't miss the ABS-CBN Internation special entertainment hour at PhilFest 2012 hour with Sheryn Regis, Monette Rivera and Don Tagala on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 PM at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex! Sheryn is a US-based Filipina pop singer, composer, host and actress and a member of the ABS-CBN pool of talents at Star Magic after breaking into Philippine showbiz following her appearance at Star in a Million. She will be joined by Adobo Nation's Monette Rivera and Telly Award Bronze Winner and Balitanga America correspondent, Don Tagala.

We have finally received a confirmation from the Consular office that it will indeed send a team to serve you during PhilFest 2012. However, the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. and the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center are no longer part of the application process aside from the fact that we will be providing the venue for the event. The Consular office decided that all applications and scheduling for the Consulate-on-Wheels in Tampa will only be processed through their office in Washington DC. Also, reservations and schedules will only start when they will issue an announcement online though their site at

"Revolution 2012" Hip-Hop Dance Competition and Youth Night at PhilFest 2012 will be held at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex Sinagtala Auditorium on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 8:00 PM. This event remains to be one of PhilFest's highlights involving Florida's youth, both Filipinos and non-Filipinos, in a dance competition infusing Filipino cultural dances with modern choreography.

You are most welcome to visit the PhilFest 2012 Exhibit at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center entitled "Kasalan" showing various wedding ceremonies, costumes and other traditions in the Philippines. These include settings from ethnic, folk to modern trends in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

1. PhilFest’s “Tanghalang Pambata 2012” is open to any Filipino and Filipino-American between 5 and 15 years old who wants to show any talent of his or her choice. The competition will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Sinagtala Theater at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, Florida 33626.

The Philippine American Chamber of Commerce presents "Immigration Law: Everything You Always Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask", an informal session with Mr. William Flynn III, Fowler White Boggs P.A. and Maria Poulakis at PhilFest 2012. The session will be held at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 3:30 PM.
