On December 16, 2011, heavy rains from Tropical Storm Washi, known locally as Sendong, combined with high tides and strong currents to produce flash floods in the Mindanao island group in the southern Philippines, particularly in the most affected Iligan and Cagayan de Oro. Flash floods occurred at night while most people were asleep, increasing the death toll, according to local media reports. As of December 21, floods and accompanying landslides had killed more than 1,500 people and affected approximately 500,000 others, displacing nearly 44,000 people to 62 evacuation centers.

Here are photos taken at "Operation Sendong - Walang Iwanan" fund drive to help typhoon victims in the Philippines on December 16, 2011. This fundraising event was sponsored by the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. and local Gawad Kalinga organization and was held at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex (Philippine Village) at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626 on Sunday, December 26, 2011. Around $10,000 was raised during this event.

Come and join the fun to raise funds for our kababayans! The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. and Gawad Kalinga will be hosting various community fundraising games such as Bingo, Basketball 3-point shootout and more at the Philippine Village (Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex) at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, Florida 33626 from 1:00-10:00 PM. Entertainment will be provided by our very own Philippine Choral Group with Joey Omila emceeing the event.
The funds raised from this event will be donated to the victims of typhoon Sendong particularly Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City and Dumaguete City. This is a call to the entire Tampa Bay Filipino community to come together, once again, to support our suffering kabababayans. Please invite your friends, family or acquaintances to come and help in this worthy cause.

The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc., through the sponsorship of the Philippine Medical Association of Florida and the Philippine Medical Auxiliary, presents PASKO 2011 on Saturday, December 17th from 3:00PM to 10:00PM at the Philippine Village (also known as Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex), 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626.
This annual PCFI event celebrates the onset of Christmas which is probably the most significant season in the Philippines. This is marked by early market scene festivities along with morning masses, numerous gatherings with family and friends, gift-giving, caroling, parades and so much more. PASKO 2011 attempts to emulate this through a whole afternoon of entertainment, food, shopping and games.
